Seychelles is a country composed of 115 islands in Indian ocean. It is closer to Africa than to Asia. The main islands are neither volcanic nor coral. They are remnants of a prehistoric continent Gondwana. The larger main islands include Mahe, Parslin, La Digue, Curieuse, Silhouette and North Island. Some outer islands are coral atolls. Most people live on the largest central islands. There are about 100 thousand permanent residents and a fluctuating crowd of tourists. Seychelles islands are uniquely beautiful due to a combination of granite boulders, white sand and tropical rainforest. The boulders have specific shape resembling fabric folds. It is a result of millions of years of erosion. This feature is probably unique in the world as most islands elsewhere are either volcanic or coral and are not formed by granite. It appears that granite properties are somewhat different between the islands. There is more "draping" in Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and Curieuse, while boulders on Silhouette are somewhat less convoluted. This page shows a collage of available aerial stock videos from Mahe and La Digue islands. All islands are beautiful with a classical postcard view of Seychelles - a combination of the boulders, white sand, and palm trees.
